Welcome to the Tarrant Literacy Coalition The Tarrant Literacy Coalition works with community and faith-based organizations and offers their staff members and volunteers training and technical support to improve their ability to provide high quality adult and family literacy programs in reading, writing, math, language, citizenship and basic life and work skills. The Tarrant Literacy Coalition supports instructors who teach in high school equivalency programs (GED), those who teach in English Language Acquisition (also called English a Second Language) programs, individuals who help adults prepare for the US Citizenship exam and others who work in all types of adult and family literacy programs. The Coalition works to increase awareness about the impact of low literacy, to identify and promote powerful solutions, and to advocate for investments in additional resources to foster new learning opportunities in our community. Since 2011, the Tarrant Literacy Coalition has also worked directly with students, leading the Project BEST program at White Settlement ISD Family Resource Center, a program designed to help adults prepare for the GED exam; the Coalition also provides pre-GED screening and information and referral services for any adult who needs help to find an adult education class through its Literacy HelpLine.
